John Ellison hails from the heart of Elko, where he was born and raised in a proud ranching family. He embodies the spirit of the cowboy philosopher, finding comfort in the well-worn contours of his Bailey cowhand hat. A dedicated family man, a small business owner, a skilled electrician, and a fervent advocate for Second Amendment rights in Nevada, John's life is a tapestry of service and principles.

 

John's journey into public service began with a humble invitation to join the Planning Commission. Eight years later, he became a steadfast member of the Elko City Council. Recognizing the pressing issues surrounding local roads, he ventured further by running for the position of Elko County Commissioner, a role he honorably held for a decade before ascending to the Nevada Assembly.

 

As an Assemblyman, John Ellison emerged as a stalwart champion of conservative values and policies for the Silver State. His dedication earned him accolades from prominent conservative organizations such as The American Conservative Union and the National Rifle Association, solidifying his reputation as one of Nevada's foremost conservative voices.

 

His extensive public service record includes roles such as:

  • Fire Science Academy Task Force participant

  • Elko County Senior Activity Programs Board Liaison

  • Board of Trustees member for the Fund for Hospital Care to Indigent Persons (2009-2010)

  • Past President of the Nevada Association of Counties (2007)

  • Chair of the Elko Fourth of July Celebration

  • Member of the Audit Committee, Nevada Association of Counties

  • Co-Chair of the Elko Veterans Day Parade

  • Vice Chair of the National Association of Counties' Public Lands Steering Committee

  • Member of the National Association of Counties' Public Lands-Clean Water Act Committee

In addition to his public service, John is an active member of various community organizations and clubs, including the Elko Lions Club, Elko Rotary Club, and the National Rifle Association. He has also served on the State Contractors' Board and participated in federal programs related to agriculture and taxation.

 

With a rich history of leadership and a commitment to his community, John Ellison embodies the essence of a dedicated public servant and a staunch defender of conservative values in Nevada.
